Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Diet Calorie AI: Food Tracker mobile application (the “App”) handles your information. The App is developed by Serhii Udielov (“we”, “us”). If you have questions, contact us at serdimdev@gmail.com.
In short
- Your profile and food diary are stored in your account so they sync between your devices. Only you can access them.
- Food photos you add stay on your device and are never uploaded.
- Usage analytics are collected only if you allow it, and you can turn them off in Settings at any time.
- The free version shows ads. Premium and “Remove ads” users don’t see ads, and the advertising SDK is not started for them.
- Payments are handled by Google Play. We never see your card details.
- If you chat with the AI assistant Hoshi, your messages are processed by AI models on Cloudflare to generate answers. We don’t store the conversation on our servers.
- You can delete your account and data from the App’s Settings.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Profile: name (optional), age, sex, height, weight, activity level and goal. We use these only to calculate your daily calorie and macronutrient targets.
- Food diary and library: foods and dishes you log, portions and meal times, water intake, custom products and dishes, favorites and products you scanned.
- Account: if you sign in with email — your email address and password (the password is handled by Firebase Authentication and is not visible to us). If you sign in with Google — the email, name and profile photo link of your Google account.
1.2 Camera and photos
The camera is used to scan barcodes and, if you choose, to take photos of food. Barcode scanning happens on your device. Food photos you add to your products and dishes are saved only on your device and are not uploaded to our servers, so they don’t appear on your other devices. If you ask Hoshi to recognize a product from a photo, that photo is sent for analysis as described in section 1.3.
1.3 AI assistant Hoshi (optional)
Hoshi answers questions about nutrition and the App. When you use it, we send to our server on Cloudflare: your messages and the recent conversation, your name from the profile (if you set one), the App language, and a short summary of your day — goal, calorie target, calories and macronutrients eaten today, water intake and whether you have Premium. Photos you take or pick to recognize a product or to estimate the calories of a meal, and the name of a food you ask Hoshi about in Food search, are sent the same way. The data is processed by open-source AI models (such as Qwen and Mistral) running on Cloudflare Workers AI only to generate the answer.
- We don’t store your messages or photos on our servers. According to Cloudflare, data sent to Workers AI is not used to train models.
- To enforce daily limits, the server keeps a counter of requests per account for two days.
- If you report an answer, the answer and your question are saved in your account so we can review them.
- If you rate the App 1–3 stars and send us feedback, your message, the rating, the App language and platform are saved in your account so we can read them. Ratings of 4–5 stars are left on Google Play under its own terms.
- Don’t share sensitive information such as medical records, documents or passwords in the chat.
1.4 Information collected automatically
- Account identifier. On first launch the App creates an anonymous account so your data can be saved and synced. If you later sign in, the same account is kept.
- Usage analytics — only with your consent. Firebase Analytics collects which screens and features are used, an app instance identifier, device model, operating system, app version, language and approximate country. You choose on first launch and can change it in Settings → “Share anonymous usage data”.
- Crash reports and diagnostics. Sentry collects crash and error reports, device and OS information, app version and performance data. For sessions with an error and a small share of other sessions it records a replay of the screen in which text and images are masked. We use this only to find and fix bugs.
- Advertising. In the free version, ads are shown via Appodeal and its partner ad networks. They may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address, device information and how you interact with ads, to show ads, limit repetition and measure results. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent before ads are personalized.
- Purchases. Google Play tells the App which product you bought and whether a subscription is active, so we can unlock Premium.
- App configuration. Firebase Remote Config downloads settings such as the daily scan limit and uses an installation identifier.
1.5 What we don’t collect
We don’t collect your precise location, contacts, messages, microphone recordings, or data from health platforms such as Health Connect or Google Fit.
2. How we use information
- to provide the App: calculate your targets, keep your diary and sync it between your devices, and answer your questions to the AI assistant;
- to manage your account, purchases and Premium access;
- to show ads in the free version;
- to understand how the App is used and improve it (only with consent);
- to find and fix crashes and keep the App secure;
- to comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases for users in the EEA and UK: performance of our agreement with you (core features, account, purchases), your consent (analytics, personalized ads), and our legitimate interests (crash reports, security, non-personalized ads).
3. Who we share information with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that operate parts of the App:
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Remote Config) | Accounts, data storage and sync, analytics, configuration | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google Play | Payments and subscriptions | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Appodeal and its ad partners | Advertising (free version) | appodeal.com/privacy-policy |
| Cloudflare (Workers, Workers AI) | AI assistant Hoshi: generating answers, recognizing products and meals from photos, estimating foods by name | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
| Sentry | Crash reports and diagnostics | sentry.io/privacy |
| Open Food Facts | Product information for a scanned barcode and Food search results (only the barcode or the search text is sent) | world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy |
Appodeal’s ad partners in the App include Google AdMob, Amazon, AppLovin, BidMachine, Bigo Ads, Chartboost, Digital Turbine, InMobi, ironSource and Unity LevelPlay, Liftoff (Vungle), Meta Audience Network, Mintegral, MobileFuse, Moloco, myTarget, Pangle, PubMatic, Start.io, TaurusX, Unity Ads, Verve and Yandex. Under some US state laws, sharing identifiers with ad partners may be considered “sharing” or “selling”; you can opt out as described in section 5.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users and the App.
4. Storage, transfers and retention
Your profile and diary are stored in Google Cloud Firestore in Europe. Account data and analytics are processed by Google, and other providers may process data in the United States and other countries; such transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, diary and library are deleted from our database immediately and the account is removed. Analytics, crash and advertising data are kept by the providers for limited periods according to their retention settings. Data on your device is removed when you uninstall the App.
5. Your choices and rights
- Analytics: Settings → “Share anonymous usage data”.
- Personalized ads: use the consent form (EEA, UK, Switzerland) or reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads). Buying Premium or “Remove ads” turns ads off completely.
- Access and correction: view and edit your profile and diary in the App.
- Deletion: see section 6.
- Copy of your data: email us and we’ll send it.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise your rights, contact us — we reply within 30 days.
6. Deleting your account and data
- Signed in: Settings → Account → “Delete account”. Your profile, diary, library and account are deleted.
- Without signing in: sign in (your data moves to that account) and delete it as above, or email us.
- Without the App: email serdimdev@gmail.com from the address of your account with the subject “Delete my account”.
More details: dietcalorie-flutter.web.app/delete-account.
7. Children
The App is not intended for children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. In the EEA, users under 16 need the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, and database access rules allow each account to read and write only its own data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. We’ll publish the new version on this page with a new effective date and, for significant changes, notify you in the App.
